Science and research

Applied research that helps people

Scientific research is an integral part of what we do. Our main focus is to find the cause of a tumour within its DNA, and so help doctors choose the right treatment or catch a recurrence of the disease early and stop it developing.

Our research

For many years we have collaborated, mainly in oncology and cardiovascular disease, with clinical centres such as the Military University Hospital Prague, Thomayer Hospital, Motol University Hospital, Pilsen University Hospital, Královské Vinohrady University Hospital, St. Anne's University Hospital Brno and others.

Together with surgeons, oncologists, gastroenterologists, cardiologists and other specialists at these leading hospitals, we look for the causes of disease in patients' DNA and help treat it or prevent it from returning.

We focus above all on the following conditions:

Cancers of the digestive tract

  • Colorectal cancer
  • Pancreatic cancer
  • Gastric cancer

Lung cancer

  • Non-small cell lung cancer

Other

  • Cardiovascular disease
  • Brain, head and neck tumours
  • Schizophrenia

Conference talks

Since our research began we have taken an active part every year in Czech and international professional conferences, where we present our scientific results, mainly in the form of talks. Here is an overview:

Supervising student theses

As part of our teaching at the Faculty of Science of Charles University, we supervise bachelor's, master's and doctoral theses by students of that faculty and of other Charles University faculties. You can browse all of them here:
